Karen Houghton, the sister of Kris Jenner, has passed away, TMZ confirmed.

Law enforcement sources reveal that Karen’s death was reported to San Diego County officials on Monday in San Marcos, CA. While the exact circumstances surrounding her passing remain unclear, county officials are currently attributing her death to natural causes.

As Kris Jenner’s only sister, Karen shared parents MJ and Robert Houghton and was born three years after the renowned momager. Growing up together in San Diego, Karen and Kris predominantly lived with their mother, MJ, following her divorce from their father.

Sources close to the family told TMZ that Kris is deeply saddened by the loss of her sister and is also concerned about Karen’s mother and niece. This marks MJ’s first experience of losing a child, making the situation particularly devastating. The family is coming together to support one another during this difficult time.

Kris also took to social media to pay tribute to her late sister, sharing a heartfelt message that reflected on their shared history and relationship.

Despite the Kardashian-Jenner family’s widespread fame, Karen has not played a prominent role in their reality TV empire, as her relationship with her sisters has been somewhat complicated over the years.

In 2014, Karen publicly addressed their issues, suggesting in an interview that Kris had changed since achieving A-list status. She also made headlines for commenting on Kris’ divorce from Caitlyn Jenner, seemingly aligning herself with her ex-in-law.

In 2016, Karen garnered attention for undergoing a five-hour facelift in an attempt to resemble the Kardashian-Jenner matriarch. Although pleased with the results at the time, Karen had largely remained out of the public eye in recent years.

A semblance of reconciliation was apparent in 2019 when Karen and Kris posed for a photo with their mother, MJ, and their respective daughters. However, Karen had not been seen with the family in recent years, maintaining a low profile while working as a part-time nurse and author.

Karen is survived by her daughter, whom she shared with ex-husband Mark Zettel, as well as her mother, sister, and several nieces and a nephew. She was 65 years old.

According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, deputies responded to a call for medical aid around 1:30 PM PT on Monday. Upon arrival, fire officials were already administering lifesaving measures to Karen Houghton, who, tragically, passed away. The specific medical incident that led to the call remains unclear.
