Cameron Diaz and Benji Madden have joyously welcomed their second child.
The actress and Good Charlotte’s lead guitarist shared the delightful news of their newborn baby boy via an Instagram post on Friday. In a joint statement, the couple expressed their gratitude, writing: “We are blessed and excited to announce the birth of our Son, Cardinal Madden. He is awesome and We are all so happy he is here!” They added, “For the kids’ safety and privacy, we won’t be posting any pictures- but he’s a really cute. We are feeling so blessed and grateful. Sending much love from our fam to yours. Best wishes and Good Afternoon!!”
Accompanying the announcement was an endearing drawing with the message, “A little bird whispered to me.” Cameron and Benji are already parents to their daughter Raddix, born on December 30, 2019. This marks the couple’s second child. They tied the knot in January 2015 following their initial meeting at a gathering hosted by Cameron, attended by her friends Nicole Richie and Joel Madden, in May 2014. Their engagement was confirmed in December 2014.
Benji’s brother, Josh, and Joel Madden showered the post with heart emojis, while Pete Wentz from Fall Out Boy commented with a flurry of sparkle emojis. Fans of both Cameron and Benji flooded the comments section with congratulations. One admirer wrote, “Omg congratulations I’m so happy for you and your family [red heart emoji].” Another exclaimed, “Oh, we needed some good news today!! Happy for you beyond the moon.” A third commenter praised the announcement, stating, “Congratulations! In October 2023, Cameron shared praises for Benji’s parenting skills during an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. She lauded him, saying: “He’s like, Benj at home, being the best dad ever and running all of his businesses, and then he just gets up there [on stage] and he’s like, ‘Yeah, all right, pyro! Pfft.’”
Cameron also revealed Benji’s penchant for serenading their daughter with custom-made songs. She shared, “They play in my head [songs] all the time because he sings them to her and she knows the words. And it’s the sweetest thing ever. It really is. It’s so…it kills me.”
