Diddy’s Former Dancer Tanika Rey Recalls ‘Horrific’ Story

Veteran media figures are revisiting Sean “Diddy” Combs’ contentious history, shedding light on past encounters with the music mogul.

Former “Extra” host Tanika Ray, who also worked as a backup dancer for Diddy in the ’90s, took to social media to share her unsettling experiences. Referring to an allegedly “horrific” incident, Ray emphasised her caution around the Bad Boy Records founder over the years. She recounted, “I just knew to avoid him at all costs… Yes, I danced for him and kept my space. I interviewed him for his projects and kept my space. Nothing that is happening is surprising.”

Ray’s revelation followed The Grio’s creative director and former MSNBC host Touré’s detailed account of a family member’s encounter with Diddy. During an interview with Joy Reid, Touré recalled requesting a favour from Diddy to hire his relative as an intern. However, the internship abruptly ended after a few months, with Touré’s relative disclosing that Diddy had made inappropriate advances, stating, “‘Come home. Stay the night with me or the internship is over.’”

Ray, prompted by Touré’s disclosure, shared her own sentiments in a video, acknowledging the prevalence of untold stories. She hinted at her own harrowing experience, stating, “Mine is horrific and only five people know it, and I probably will never tell it.” Despite her years of interaction with Diddy, Ray emphasised the emotional toll and reluctance to revisit trauma, underscoring the desire for safety and happiness.

While considering the possibility of sharing her story in a future book, Ray emphasised the complexity of living as a survivor and the desire to move past victimhood. She highlighted the societal pressures and stigmatisation faced by victims, stressing the need for understanding and empathy.

Ray also made a veiled reference to Cassie’s lawsuit against Combs, which alleged physical abuse, rape, and sex trafficking. Although Combs denied the allegations and settled the lawsuit swiftly, multiple other alleged victims have emerged with similar accusations, which Combs vehemently denies. His legal representatives have reiterated his innocence, emphasising the absence of criminal or civil liability.

As Ray and Touré’s claims resurface, representatives for Combs have remained silent on the matter.
