Dan Schneider Sues ‘Quiet On Set’ Producers For Portraying Him As An Abuser

Dan Schneider is taking legal action against the producers of the Quiet on Set docuseries, refuting accusations of inappropriate behavior during his time as a Nickelodeon producer.

In a lawsuit obtained by E! News on May 1, Schneider contests that the series falsely suggested he was involved in child s*xual abuse, notably by juxtaposing him with Brian Peck, who was convicted on charges related to child sex abuse.

Schneider, 58, asserts that he neither condoned nor participated in such abuse, condemning it unequivocally once uncovered. His legal team characterizes Quiet on Set as a “hit job” intended to defame him for the sake of sensationalism and profit.

Following the lawsuit filing, Schneider conveyed to E! News his necessity to pursue legal recourse against the production companies, stressing that while he acknowledges past shortcomings in leadership, it is unacceptable to associate him with reprehensible acts like those perpetrated by child predators.

Schneider previously addressed the Quiet on Set allegations, expressing regret for past behaviours and acknowledging the discomfort experienced by some former child actors on his sets. He emphasised his commitment to accountability while challenging the portrayal of events in the docuseries.

In Quiet on Set, Drake Bell, known for his role in Drake & Josh, disclosed for the first time his experience of sexual abuse at the hands of Brian Peck, a former dialogue coach who faced legal consequences for his actions. Bell recounted the trauma he endured and highlighted Schneider’s supportive response following Peck’s arrest.

Bell detailed how Peck, by deliberately driving a wedge between him and his father, gained access to him and subjected him to assault. Despite the abuse, Bell initially remained silent, fearing career repercussions. However, with the encouragement of his mother, he reported the abuse to authorities, leading to Peck’s arrest.

Schneider’s outreach to Bell amid this ordeal underscores the complexity of the situation and highlights the need for support and accountability within the entertainment industry.
