According to an insider who spoke to People on Monday, Gisele Bündchen was left feeling “deeply disappointed by the disrespectful portrayal of her family” during Sunday’s Netflix roast of her ex-husband, Tom Brady.
Despite their divorce being finalised in October 2022, Bündchen found herself at the receiving end of a barrage of jokes from the star-studded lineup, including host Kevin Hart, comedian Nikki Glaser, and former Patriots quarterback Drew Bledsoe. Even her relationship with jiu-jitsu instructor Joaquim Valente wasn’t off-limits.
The insider revealed, “This past week, Gisele has been tirelessly dedicated to aiding those in need in her home state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, which is grappling with the worst flooding in its history.” They added, “She was concerned about family affected by the devastating floods, so to hear her life being joked about was very disappointing.”
Hart kicked off the “Greatest Roast of All Time” by poking fun at Brady’s divorce, remarking, “When you got a chance to go 8-9 and all it will cost you is your wife and your kids, you gotta do what the f–k you gotta do.”
Taking aim at Valente, Hart continued, “How did you not see this coming? Eight f–king karate classes a day and she’s still a white belt!”
Despite the fallout, Bündchen, who co-parents son Benjamin, 14, and daughter Vivian, 11, with Brady, is focusing on her family. The insider emphasised, “As always, [Bündchen’s] priority is to support her children who were affected by the irresponsible content that was broadcasted.”
Glaser also made jabs at Brady’s split from Bündchen during the roast, saying he’s experienced a “28th wedding anniversary” and his former protege has not. Referring to Brady’s seven Super Bowl rings, Glaser quipped, “Well, eight now that Gisele gave hers back.”
While Brady and Bündchen were married for 13 years before separating, Glaser, who also mentioned Brady’s ex-girlfriend Bridget Moynahan during the roast, revealed on Howard Stern’s SiriusXM show that they consciously chose not to involve Brady’s children too much in the jokes. “We all collectively just decided not to involve his kids too much in anything because they didn’t ask for that,” Glaser explained.
Brady and Moynahan, who dated from 2004 to late 2006, share a son, Jack, 16.
