While the sweater seemed mismatched with her sparkly silver Maison Margiela gown, Kardashian explained to Vogue on the carpet that the look was inspired by a memorable night in a garden. She recounted, “I just ran out and grabbed my boyfriend’s sweater and threw it on and had to get to work. And my hair is all messed up.” Her hair was styled in a loose braid at the back.
This year’s Met Gala, themed “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion with a Garden of Time,” marked Kardashian’s 11th appearance at the prestigious event. In a behind-the-scenes video shared with Vogue, she was seen preparing for the gala two days in advance, a departure from her usual routine. “This is the first time I tested the look out days before an event,” she explained.
During the interview, Kardashian praised designer John Galliano, with whom she collaborated to create her dress for the gala. She described his designs as theatrical and expressed admiration for their partnership, which has been years in the making. Referring to the gala’s theme, Kardashian shared her interpretation, inspired by the idea of being in a garden after a memorable night out.
While it’s unclear if the scenario she described actually happened, Kardashian emphasised that the inspiration stemmed from a night of revelry followed by an early morning wakeup call to take her kids to school. She wanted her hair to reflect a “bed head” look, adding to the post-party vibe.
At the gala, Kardashian was accompanied by her mother Kris Jenner, her boyfriend Corey Gamble, and her sisters Kendall Jenner and Kylie Jenner. Her appearance, particularly her tiny waist accentuated by a silver corset, sparked conversations on social media, with some speculating about the drastic body transformation.
