Justin and Hailey Bieber have chosen a name they believe is “perfect” for their forthcoming child.
The couple revealed they were expecting their first child together with a series of photos and a video showcasing their renewal of wedding vows.
In the images, Hailey, who wed the pop star in 2018, looked radiant in a white lace gown from Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello, proudly displaying her growing baby bump. A source close to the couple shared with PEOPLE: “Everyone is excited for them. They will be great parents, and Justin will be super involved.”
“This will be the next important project for him. He’s so excited to raise his baby. They have a name that they think is perfect.
“They’re also starting to decorate a nursery. They can’t wait to meet the baby.”
The insider continued: “They have both been very emotional about it. They feel so blessed.”
“They’ve also felt very protective of the baby from the moment they found out. They shared with family and close friends early on.
“It was very important for them to keep it quiet and just enjoy [it] for as long as possible before they publicly confirmed.”
Justin and Hailey exchanged vows in a secret ceremony at a New York City courthouse in September 2018, followed by a lavish second wedding in South Carolina in September 2019.
Addressing rumours about her pregnancy last October, Hailey told GQ Hype: “Recently, everybody was like, ‘Oh, my God, she’s pregnant,’ and that’s happened to me multiple times before.”
“There is something that’s disheartening about, Damn, I can’t be bloated one time and not be pregnant?”
Hailey expressed her anticipation for motherhood but emphasised that when they decide to start a family, it will remain private until they choose otherwise.
“When there comes a day that that is true, you…you, as in the internet, will be the last to know,” she explained.
“It’s also such a private, intimate thing. It’s something that’s going to come when it comes. And it’s just, honestly, at the end of the day, so hilarious how much people f**king care.”
Hailey acknowledged the challenge of raising a family in the spotlight but noted that her perspective has evolved since she was younger.
“Maybe I liked the idea at 18 of not raising kids around certain things, but my life is so different now than it was when I was 18,” she said.
“It’s so hard to say what I’m going to do or not do when there isn’t even a child here yet. I don’t even know what it feels like to be a parent other than a dog parent yet.”
Hailey also faced online backlash, particularly regarding her relationship with Justin and alleged conflicts with Selena Gomez. Last year, Selena urged her fans to stop sending hate towards Hailey, emphasising that no one should endure bullying.
Following Selena’s statement, Hailey thanked her and they reconciled publicly.
During an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast in September 2022, Hailey addressed accusations of “stealing” Justin from Selena, asserting that she was not involved with him while he was in a relationship.
“A lot of the hate comes from like ‘oh you stole him,’ and I guess that comes from the fact that they wished he ended up with someone else. And that’s fine, you can wish that all you want, but that’s just not the case,” she said.
“There’s a certain numbness that you get [from the hate]. It still happens to this day. If I was to go live right now, it would still be happening. You reach a point where you have to ignore it.”
“If we have moved on, why can’t you?” she added. “It’s hurtful and it’s bullying.”
