Selena Gomez has spoken out following the announcement of her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber and his wife Hailey’s impending parenthood.
Though Selena didn’t directly address the pregnancy news, she shared a photo on her Instagram Story featuring herself with her current boyfriend, Benny Blanco, a 36-year-old music producer.
Selena, 31, and Justin, 30, had an on-again, off-again relationship for eight years before officially parting ways in May 2018. Justin then reignited his past romance with Hailey, 27, and they married later that same year.
In the shared black-and-white snapshot, Selena and Benny are seen holding hands while wrapped in blankets. Notably, Selena sports a large ring on her left ring finger.
Selena posted the photo just two hours after Hailey announced her pregnancy on Instagram. Hailey shared the joyful news through a video showcasing her baby bump in a custom Saint Laurent lace wedding dress by Anthony Vaccarello, worn during a surprise vow renewal ceremony in Hawaii.
During the outdoor celebration, captured in the video, Hailey and Justin shared a tender kiss as they revealed in their forthcoming addition. Hailey, donning a new diamond ring, was filmed by Justin while cradling her bump, set to a new track by the Grammy winner.
Reports from TMZ suggest that Hailey is already over six months pregnant.
Although Justin and Hailey’s friendship dates back to 2009, their romantic relationship didn’t blossom until 2016. This shift occurred amidst Justin’s intermittent and publicised relationship with Selena, which began in 2011, paused in 2014, and briefly resumed in 2017 before concluding in 2018.
Despite years of speculation and rumours fueling a supposed feud between Selena and Hailey, the two put an end to such speculations in October 2022, sharing warm photos together at an event in LA and even embracing in one image.
However, in February 2023, rumours of a feud resurfaced when Hailey posted a TikTok clip, later deleted, that some interpreted as a slight towards Selena. The incident coincided with negative attention Selena was receiving over paparazzi photos taken during a trip to Mexico.
Selena addressed the situation, advocating for kindness and condemning hate and bullying. She revealed that Hailey had reached out to her after receiving death threats, expressing her desire for the negativity to cease.
