Harry Potter Star Daniel Radcliffe Confirms He’s Going To Be A Dad

Harry Potter star Daniel Radcliffe is going to be a dad, and we’re all feeling a little old.

Now, we all know who Daniel Radcliffe is. The star first hit the big screen aged eleven years old when he was cast in Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

His success skyrocketed and he went on to star in the other 8 movies of the franchise, in which he played Harry Potter for a whopping 10 years and has developed a huge fan base because of it.

Amazingly, as the success of the Harry Potter movies increased, so did his paycheck, and by the fifth film, Radcliffe was on £8 million.

However, despite the money, he has always made sure to stay grounded and revealed he never wasted his money on trivial things growing up.

He told one magazine shortly after finishing his fifth film: “Even when I was very young and before any of this had happened, I remember being repulsed by ostentatious displays of wealth.”

He has always been grateful for the opportunities he’s been given over the years, but revealed that he wants to be more than just Harry Potter.

“To some people, I will only ever be Harry,” he said in an interview with The Sunday Times in February 2007.

“I know that, I don’t fight it. I don’t want to distance myself from him. I’m proud of that work. But I do want to show them that I am not Harry Potter. I am an actor.”

But Radcliffe isn’t just a one-trick pony, he has appeared in a variety of shows and plays in his career.

At age seventeen, before the fifth Harry Potter came out, he made the decision to appear in Peter Shaffer’s Equus, as the lead. It was an instant hit, and he received rave reviews from critics. However, the nudity that was required was daunting at first, but he threw himself into the role and never looked back.

But it’s not just the stage that Radcliffe has excelled at, he’s also starred in a whole host of movies. His first was the Australian film December Boys, in which he played an orphan competing with 3 others hoping to secure a family.

He also starred in the 2007 ITV drama My Boy Jack, in which he won the role of Rudyard Kipling’s son.

More recently, Radcliffe has entered the Hollywood scene, winning roles in movies such as Swiss Army Man and Guns Akimbo.

But along with the incredible ups of the job, he’s also experienced devastating downs. Radcliffe has been candid in the past about his struggles with alcoholism and revealed how he would often turn to drink to deal with the pressure of stardom.

“In my case, the quickest way to forget about the fact that you’re being watched is to get very drunk,” he told Newsweek.

“And then as you get very drunk, you become aware that ‘Oh, people are watching more now because now I’m getting very drunk, so I should probably drink more to ignore that more.’”

Thankfully, in 2010 Radcliffe got sober with the help of his friends.

“Ultimately, it was my own decision,” he said. “Like I woke up one morning after a night going like, ‘This is probably not good.’”

When it comes to his love life, Daniel Radcliffe has been in a relationship with his actress girlfriend Erin Darke for over a decade.

Radcliffe met Darke on the set of the 2013 movie, Kill Your Darlings.

He opened up about his relationship earlier last year, revealing how happy he is with her.

“I’ve got a really nice life,” he said. “I’ve been with my girlfriend for a decade pretty much. We’re really happy.”

So it seems Radcliffe is on the up and up when it comes to his personal life, and to top it off, the star has shared that he’s going to be a dad!

According to the Mirror, an actor’s representative verified Radcliffe’s good news on Friday night (March 25).

The source said: “Daniel and Erin could not be happier to be expecting. They are absolutely thrilled, and can’t wait to become a family of three.

“They told their families and friends recently. It’s an incredibly exciting time.”

Congratulations to the happy couple!
